CONFUSED ABOUT ALL THE DECORATING STYLES OUT THERE?
Country, Farmhouse, Shabby chic. Bauhaus, Modern, Contemporary. Industrial, Urban, Steampunk.
You’ve probably heard of all these styles and more. But if you’re going nuts about what each one is really about, don’t worry – you’re not alone.
I’m an interior designer, and I’m just as confused.
So, I’ve made it my mission to pick apart each style name that I happen to come across, know its characteristics and the elements that go into it.
OVERWHELMED BY THE AMOUNT OF INFORMATION ON THE WEB?
Save time on research. I’ve done it for you. I know you’re busy so you’ll find in this site really short presentations on what each style is all about.
HAVE YOU COME UP WITH YOUR PERSONAL STYLE STATEMENT?
If words escape you when asked to describe your decorating style, you can download my edictionary of words and phrases to help you find yours. Having a 2-word or 3-word style statement could come in handy when that question comes up.
STILL CAN’T DECIDE ON YOUR STYLE?
Take the quiz (coming soon). Pick words that you think describe your style, and let my quiz app suggest some for you.
HOW THIS SITE CAME TO BE
I had been doing interior design for a few years when I realized that my clients and I seemed to have a hard time pinpointing the style direction for our projects.
The clients couldn’t express their ideas well, and I wasn’t adept in extracting these information from them.
And frankly, I was confused with all the style terms I’d been hearing. They’re not exactly the same from the historical styles learned in school, which sometimes don’t resonate well with clients.
That’s why I’ve spent the last 15 months researching these styles. It led me to make these style presentations, write the dictionary and finally come up with my style quiz.
HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS SITE
If you find the stuff here helpful, feel free to share. Ask your friends to take the quiz and compare results.
I hope you join me as I explore these beautiful decorating styles. Diverse as they are, I get to appreciate each one better, as I learn more.
