The name literally translates to “new style,” one that aimed to break away from the influence of other styles that came before it. It is almost devoid of straight lines, and instead uses sinuous and undulating curves. It’s inspired by nature, flowers and foliage – but done in a stylized manner. The art form is applied to all elements of interior design – from furniture pieces to stairs to doorways, etc. Materials used: wrought iron, brass, bronze, wood, stained glass. It’s elegant & feminine.
